12 Rules Parents Must Understand

When we speak about our children’s discipline and education, it is important that parents display a certain level of expertise on the job. Nobody was born with all the necessary information. However, we can use all means and resources in order to understand some things about parenting based on experiences and guides from people who have been there.

1 – Never underestimate your children. Your children understand various things almost in an instant. Do not make them feel that you think of them poorly from the beginning.

2 – Never use threat as a means to let your children learn. Children love challenges but this does not mean you need to threat them in order to hoax them into what you believe.

3 – Never use bribery. Use positive reinforcement but never involve money when trying to get your child to do what you want him to.

4 – Never expect that they can hold out to their promises. Promises meant nothing to small kids because they have not yet reached the point that they understand its importance.

5 – Never tie your child tightly around your waist (figuratively speaking). They need their own space and time as well.

6 – Never talk in complicated things. Children only understand as much as simple things therefore you need to talk to them this way.

7 – Never give orders that you know your child could not carry out. Children need to learn to do things and find out about things on their own.

8 – Never over-indulge your child because this will backfire at you anytime.

9 – Never compromise the rules of the house. If you have initially given a set of rules, stick by it and teach your child to respect it.

10 – Never impose rules that go beyond your child’s capacity. Rules are age-limited.

11 – Never use guilt as a weapon. It is never good to let your child feel guilt.

12 – Never take requests lightly. This will teach your child to be responsible. Orders are rather drastic and cruel for a child to endure. Learn how to make requests.

All of these rules are enough to teach your kids to be kind, polite, respectful and nice. These are not only applicable to parents but for teachers and personnel at school. The imposition of the same set of rules in the home and school will give the child a sense of consistency therefore they will not be confused on what rules to follow.

Dealing with Dry Skin

There are a lot of people who suffer from dry skin not only during cold season but also on warm days of summer. The increase in humidity indoors and outdoors worsens the entire situation.

Symptoms may include but not limited to:

• Redness
• Tight sensation on the skin (especially when try to bend the joints of your bones)
• Cracking
• Bleeding (extreme)

Having a dry skin can cause both discomfort and embarrassment. That is the reason why you need to find the ways to deal with it.

1 – Moisturizing soap

Make sure that you use a moisturizing soap whenever you take a bath. Most soap, if not appropriate with your skin type, have a drying effect. Moisturizing soaps will bring back the moisture that was removed during taking a bath.

2 – Do not be compulsive when it comes to cleanliness

Washing your hands with soap several times a day can actually remove the natural moisture from your skin. If you have to wash your hands, use tap water only and avoid using soaps all of the time.

3 – Use moisturizing lotion

If you do not want your skin to be extremely dry make sure you apply moisturizing creams or lotion unto your skin after bathing so that your skin can still retain its moisture.

4 – Gently exfoliate

Gentle exfoliating products remove dead cells from your skin that actually do not contain moisture at all. Exfoliation will expose your new cells that are filled with moisture.

5 – Consult a dermatologist

If the problem is still there after you have done what you can, the best option would be to consult a dermatologist so that he can help you with your dilemma. Dermatologists can recommend stronger moisturizing products.

These are just suggestions to help you control your dry skin.
