Spending Quality Time with Your Kids

Time…

This is perhaps the most difficult to face in the world. You juggle your daily routine of work, household chores and other activities that it is getting difficult to spend time with your kids. No matter what other people say, spending quality time with your kids is always important and mandatory.

What are the benefits that you can get with devoting time to kids?

• Strengthening of the bond between you and your kids
• Establishment of trust

How does this affect your child?

1. Your kids will do better in school
2. They excel in various extra-curricular activities
3. They develop healthy self-esteem
4. Your kids will look up for your guidance
5. They develop independence on their own

There is no need for you to schedule the quality time spent. An hour talking to them and letting them know you are always there for them is enough than spending 4 hours in front of the TV without even talking to each other.

Remember, your kid is more important than any other thing in this world. You should find time in your busy schedule and fit him right there. List your priorities so that you know what to do.

How will you make the most of your time?

• List all your household chores for the day and decide whether all of these should be done in one setting. You might also consider leaving things for last until your kids have gone to bed.
• Turn your daily schedule into quality time. You can teach your kid a rhyme or two while you are driving them to and from school. This could be a great opportunity for both of you to talk about his day.
• Be fair when you are spending time with your kids. All of them are important and you should not ignore one just because you think your youngest needs attention.
• Try to incorporate familiarity into your routine so your kid knows where he should be in your life.
